Olympics 2012 - Lands End to London!

Exciting news has been announced...
The OLYMPIC TORCH relay route is going to  kick off at Lands End Cornwall next year in May!

Golly gosh ... we are excited!!

The iconic flame will arrive at Lands End Cornwall from Greece next May and will be carried the length and breadth of England  by 8000 people - running a mile each. It will eventually reach the UK Olympic Stadium in East London ahead of the opening ceremony on July 27th 2012.

So looks like Penzance Cornwall and the district of Penwith is set to be a major area of attraction for next summer! And with Penzance being the closest town to the rugged cliffs of Lands End (just 25 minutes away), it looks like its not just the sun that is going to be sizzling in Penzance!
Penzance "all lit up"!

"The Olympic Flame will shine a light across every nation and region of the UK and showcase the very best of who we are and where we live" said London 2012 Chairman Sebastian Coe.

And yes, it certainly will! Down here in South West Cornwall we are feeling very honoured that the Olympic Torch will be starting its tour of the very best that England has to offer here in Lands End - Wow!
